Our Vision of Love

In the early years of our existence, JMMB team members were invited to co-create a statement that would describe the type of company that they wanted JMMB to be. After many hours of sharing and collaboration, the statement they created is known as JMMB’s Vision of Love. It continues to serve as a guide and a reminder of who we are. It is openly accessible to all team members and clients; and excerpts from the Vision of Love are read before the start of all internal meetings. We are happy to share it with you here.

Milestones:

  • The JMMB Group, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, JMMB International Limited (JMMB International), officially began operations in the Caribbean island nation of Barbados in October 2023.

  •  JMMB Group Limited (JMMBGL) through its holding company acquired Banco Múltiple Bell Bank, SA in the Dominican Republic as it deepens its presence in the Spanish-speaking nation in July 2022. This is its first commercial bank in the Dominican Republic.

  • JMMB Group Limited (JMMB Group) acquired 33,213,764 common shares of Sagicor Financial Company Ltd. (Sagicor), on December 5, 2019; as a result of that transaction, JMMB Group owned approximately 22.5% of the issued and outstanding common shares, of Sagicor. JMMB Group has subsequently increased its stake in the financial conglomerate from 22.52% and now owns 23.44%. Sagicor is now an associated company of JMMB Group.

  • The JMMB Group operations in Trinidad and Tobago, on September 12, 2018 launched, JMMB Express Finance (T&T) Limited. Through this subsidary, the JMMB Group will be able to provide a consumer financing solution predicated on financial inclusion, a fair price and a quick response.

  • The JMMB Group's entry into the commercial banking foray was made official in Jamaica, with the formal transition from JMMB Merchant Bank to the rebranded entity, JMMB Bank on August 14, 2017.

  •  Jamaica Money Market Brokers Limited, under an approved Scheme of Arrangement, was delisted from the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE) and Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE), and relisted as JMMB Group Limited on April 13, 2015.

  •  As a means of deliberate business line diversification in Trinidad and Tobago, JMMB acquired 50% shareholding in Intercommercial Bank Limited (IBL) in 2005, and later gained full ownership of the IBL Group in 2013. On May 2, 2016, IBL Bank was rebranded to JMMB Bank.

  •  On June 29, 2012, JMMB successfully completed the transaction to acquire the Capital & Credit Financial Group (CCFG) in Jamaica. This enabled the expansion of the JMMB Group, to include the provision of banking, remittance and unit trust products and services, to its client base.

  •  In October 2007, JMMB Puesto de Bolsa opened its doors in the Dominican Republic, with a mandate to actively develop the money market in one of the largest Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands.

  •  Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) opened for business in November 1992, as the first money market broker.
